Mum, yes I thank wise people who lived before me and have helped humanity (some of it) advance and walk away from supertition that holds so many people captive to the whims of religious leaders, who everyday bend the content of old superstion books to fit their own goals (power, money, influence)

Baptism of a chid and an elder's response to my objection
by never a jw ini just learned that an 11 year old kid is taking the questions for baptism.
as soon as his father finished tellig me this, i told him that he should make his son wait, but he responded that he couldn't go against jehovah' spirit.
i gave the guy a break because he is the uneducated and naive immigrant who puts his heart, not his mind, into the religion.

.Dismissing servant,
I know I am confrontational. The reasoning and the nice language are behind. I tried them repeatedly. At this point I am mad as hell and I can't take it anymore. The elder has more self restrain than I do and he still answers my emails. Good, I am not finished venting.

Here's my reply to his reply Mr. Elder, Surprised?. Have you been deleting without reading my e-mails of the last 12 months, or are you sarcastic? What is the point of having elders if they are incapable of using common sense, especially in situations as important as the baptism of a child. So if (name deleted) wants to marry tomorrow, quit school, or take any other unwise path, you and the body of elders sholud give your blessing and restrained from any advice. Your answer is so inconsistent with your eagerness to disfellowship at the slightest sign of disagreement. Why don't we stop the unbiblical Judicial Committees and follow the same biblical advice you are using to justify your allowing the baptism of a child. So inconsistent, Galatians 6:4-5 is good for the entrance, but not for the exit. The Bible is such a dangerous book in the hands of mind controlled zealots. Are you guys blind? Don't you see the religious intolerance that you apply, when years later you cast out and ostracized these children for changing their mind? Don 't you see your Middle Ages inquisitional religious attitude?. (Name deleted) is only a child. How can you expect him to have the slightest hint of maturity to make such a huge decision as to commit to a religion that demands unquestioning allegiance to its doctrine and is willing to ruin the lives of those who don't fully adhere to its rigorous and unreasonable rules. You are only stregthenning my conviction that the WT grip on its members is very unhealthy and harmful to people, especially the young ones.

Apostacitis
by Rufus T. Firefly inapostacitis is a term denoting a condition with which the watchtower society has become thoroughly infected, particularly since the year 1981 when sincere christians who merely resigned from the organization over principled differences in belief became viewed the same as unrepentant wrongdoers (1 cor.
5:11) and as those rejecting the good news about the christ (2 john 9-11).
there was a time when news of one becoming an apostate was so rare among witnesses that it sent shockwaves throughout the organization.

Does David also go by the name of Rufus T. Firefly?
Welcome Rufus. I think you will be a valuable contributor.

LOis,
She never listened to what I have to say because I never said a thing regarding her Mom's religion. I was so stupid. I never researched the weird religion of my wife because after all they were nice and honest people. I was so stupid for not realizing the insidious harm being done on my children. I stilll got one son who is not baptized, but still so brain-washed. Being a full blown atheist and skeptic since age 13, I never realized how powerful cult leaders can be. To guys like me, the claims of cult leaders often sound so stupid that it's hard to believe that intelligent people would take them seriously. But it happens; I am witnessing their mighty power.

I just learned that an 11 year old kid is taking the questions for baptism. As soon as his father finished tellig me this, I told him that he should make his son wait, but he responded that he couldn't go against Jehovah' spirit. I gave the guy a break because he is the uneducated and naive immigrant who puts his heart, not his mind, into the religion. I decided then to send an angry email to the main elder of the congregation (also a substitute of the C.O., well respected and known by everyone in the circuit, and he never fails to deliver the important speeches in district and circuit conventions).
Here's my email
I just learned that (name deleted) is going to have the questions about having full allegiance to the leaders of the Watchtower lest he is cast out as mentally diseased. Shame on the body of elders if they reach the conclusion that the innocent kid is ready. Are you going to make a full disclosure to him of all the errors, lies and shameless intellectual dishonesty in the publications printed in the Watchtower's headquarters. What are you going to do if the kid gets baptized and 6 years later learns about all the things that I have learned about your leaders, and then decides to abandon his faith. You know the consequences, his social life will be shattered by the cruelty of WT's shunning policy? Are you going to blame it in on Satan, as frequently is done by irresponsible an arrogant people, or are you going to take responsibility for you gross negligence? Here's his email I am surprised, Never a JW, that you, of all people, cannot see that we must let him and his parents choose.
GALATIANS 6:4, 5 4 But let each one prove what his own work is, and then he will have cause for exultation in regard to himself alone, and not in comparison with the other person. 5 For each one will carry his own load.
Would you have us choose for him? Mr. Elder Is there any wonder that the Bible is very dangerous in the hands of incompetent zealots? -

The United Nations will attack Christendom
by Doug Mason inthis is a serious question and i hope to receive intelligent explanations.. .
the wts says that the great tribulation lies in the future.
they write that it will start when the united nations attacks christendom.. .

It's all bull. However, the WTS could make its case if there is a political attack against religion. Possibly passing resolutions to reduce the influence, wealth and power of the church. I don't think the WTS expects a scenario such as the one you are describing. Then again, the WTS has come up with the weirdest biblical interpretations before. Anything is possible with them.

My View and Bobby Dylan's View of AntiWatchtower Special Groups
by Band on the Run inmy computer crashed so i am not fully informed of the recent antiwatchtower organization.
i must vent, however.
perhaps i am the only one on the face of the earth (or the entire universe) but i found cedar's opening announcement insulting.

Were you expecting an invitation addressing you as "Your Majesty"
When I first saw the thread with the announcement, I supported the effort and was asked to fill a volunteer form. I did. I will try to make my little contribution, despite the absence of a personal invitation, despite the absence of any kind of recognition, and despite the minor flaws of the leaders. Many of them have worked a lot harder than the critics to help fight the Watchtower harmful and wrong headed doctrines.

25 YEARS of compiled yearbook statistics
by 88JM inhello again folks - as promised in my last thread here, i've been working on turning yearbook statistics into excel spreadsheets.. coincidentally, today is my 25th birthday (spare a thought for a fader).. i've now updated the spreadsheet with yearbook data all the way back to 1988 (the year i was born), therefore it now contains 25 years of statistics.. there were a lot of countries changing around and for some it was possible to create a continuation of data.
some are a simple change of name like south-west africa to namibia.
others, for example - in 1993 with czechoslovakia splitting into two countries (czech republic and slovakia) i have added an extra row that provides a continuation of the data, combining czech republic and slovakia back together as if they were still one country.

Thank you for all that work. I hope to see comments soon. I tried dowloading one file but never appeared in my folder of downloads. At this point I quit. I always fear those companies providing free services. Appreciate if someone can advice as to the safety of downloading files from these companies.
